Re-light the creative flame! Make new friends! Release your inner wacko! It’s Summer and the Equinox Theatre Acting School is back in action with improv classes, taught by master teacher Kent Davis. This class is perfect for adults looking for fun and creative challenges or just to meet new friends. The Equinox Theatre’s Acting School has been a part of Bozeman for over thirteen years.

This summer, Equinox offers its Improv Workshop. This weekly improvisational comedy class revolves around games and techniques that focus on jump-starting the imagination and coaxing out your hidden, inner cutup. The techniques taught in the class are useful for seasoned performers or anyone wanting a little extra confidence in environments ranging from the board room to the bar. Many of the games used are the same ones audiences in the Gallatin Valley have enjoyed during Spontaneous Combustibles, Broad Comedy or Comedy Death Match performances. All levels of experience are welcome in this flexible, dynamic and caring environment.

Artistic Director Kent Davis, the instructor for this class, brings to bear over 15 years of professional experience performing in film, television and theater, as well as an approach that balances technical excellence and a nose for fun. An artistic director of of Equinox and a core member of the Equinox acting company, he has recently appeared in the Equinox productions of Closer and The Typographer’s Dream, and his plays Butter and Lost in the Supermarket. Kent has taught performance, improvisation and acting around the country, at workshops and seminars in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and San Diego and in the media and theatre departments at MSU, Bozeman and the University of California, San Diego.

The summer session begins Wednesday evening, June 11th, and runs for 8 weeks. There will be a final performance on Tuesday, August 6th.

You may register in advance by calling 587-0737, x.7 or you may simply try the first class or classes you might be interested in and decide after sampling the classes. Give us a ring to discuss any questions you may have.
