Bozeman Company Plans First “Spa Living” Development
By Courtney Lowery, 7-11-06
Bozeman-based Sage Spa Living is dipping its toe into the real estate development market -- starting immediately in Helena with hopes to expand to Missoula, Big Sky and elsewhere in the West.
Sage, which operates spas in Bozeman, Whitefish and Billings, announced its plans today to begin its series of "spa living" developments by working with Helena developer Alan Nicholson and Artisan LLP to design and develop a 3,000-square-foot spa and lifestyle store and six luxury residences in Helena's Great Northern Town Center. Each residence will feature, among other things, "private terraces, floor-to-ceiling windows, open floor plans and customizable interior packages that include infinity bathtubs, steam showers, gourmet kitchens, gas fireplaces, state-of-the-art audio / video systems and calming water features," the announcement touts. Construction on the Stillwater Residences is planned for Spring of 2007 and the places will be ready for move in by Spring or Summer of 2008.
Nicholson, the developer of the Great Northern Town Center said in the announcement that he had been planning residential space in the center since its inception. He said, "To bring this level of design and spa living to the urban venue of the Great Northern Town Center, is going to be an incredible addition architecturally, aesthetically and as a wonderful living space for a fortunate few." According to the Stillwater Web site, each residence will begin in the "high $400,000s."
For Sage co-founder Justin Bigart, this is a chance to bring what he calls a "unique residential ownership opportunity" to one of the West's premiere mixed-use developments. The goal is to create a residential development centered on natural health, design and concious construction in an urban setting.
Bigart said in the release, "At Sage, we believe that a natural, balanced lifestyle is crucial to a healthy, fulfilling life. Unfortunately, making consistent healthy choices has always been hard because our lives are complicated, therefore every detail of Stillwater, from the location to the design to the amenities, is aimed at simplifying healthful living so that our residents can live more vibrant lives."
