Clinton Takes On Obama’s Environmental Goals In Oregon

During her visit to Oregon Saturday, Hillary Clinton told crowds in Hillsboro and Eugene that rival Democratic Sen. Barack Obama has a history of voting against the state’s environmental interests.
Clinton told more than 5,000 people in each city she visited that the Energy Policy Act of 2005 is “stacked with those who have the same mindset as George Bush and Dick Cheney.” She then pointed out that Obama supported the bill, and that she voted against it.
Clinton also praised Oregon’s lead to push for greater use of solar and wind energy and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Oregonlive.com reported. She said that her highest priority was to slash America’s dependence on imported oil, which she argued endangers both national security and the environment, the Web site reported.
Clinton visited Oregon to gain support before the state’s May 20 primary.

Hillary gave a good speech about MLK. But, it all sounds hallow and political when one sees how viciously and unfairly she had attached Obama, perhaps the best example of implementation of MLK’s vision. She had used the repeatedly the race card (either as code words or overtly) and gender card (see Ellen’s show). Her negatives are too high because of her dishonesty and power hungry nature. One has to see where they got the $109 million income. Are some of them from questionable places and we need honesty and details? With that kind unhealthy wealth she cannot be the champions of common man.
It ironic that Hillary was busy complaining about Obama’s speeches, wile Bill was making millions making speeches. Obviously for someone speech was important for them to pay outrageous some of money ($51.85 million). Perhaps these were influence peddling rather than inspirational ideas.
That is not true. In Eugene her crowd was less than 2500. Hillary's credibility is questionable. She claimed that she spoke out against war before Obama did after he joined Senate. But ABC NEWS fact checked that Hillary's claim is false.
Good journalism does not simply retail what someone said. Analyze what they said.
Here is what she said about the energy bill. Based on your knowledge of the energy bill, what is your analysis?
Based on your analysis of Obama's voting record, what do you think about his environmental credentials?
If you don't know the bedrock facts, you can't do much other than ping pong back and forth with nuggets like this.
This is extremely thin stuff. The tone betrays that the writer knows almost nohting about the issues being discussed. Reporting what someone else reported?
Where is the analysis and insight? IS Oregon really a leader in solar and wind energy? Based on what stats? In comparison to whom? Give us the facts.
Tell us something we don't know about the New West.
That's what we desperately need.
Obama also had the opportunity to oppose the nuclear waste facility at Yucca Mountain in 2002, when the Illinois state Senate considered an instrument entitled Illinois State Senate Resolution 342 on 18 APR 2002. According to the synopsis, SR0342 "urges Congress to sustain President Bush's affirmative decision on Yucca Mountain's suitability as a permanent federal repository for high-level radioactive materials." Although Obama was present when the bill was considered on the floor of the Illinois state Senate, he did not voice any objections. As a result, SR0342 was adopted with the unanimous consent of Barack Obama and the entire Illinois state Senate. I quote the relevant passages on page 26 of this transcript of the proceedings of the Illinois state Senate:
But even more troubling is the $181,000 Obama has accepted from Exelon since he announced his Presidential bid. How can Obama protect Nevadans from the nuclear power lobby when he is financially beholden to the special interests who desire to dump their radioactive toxic waste at Yucca Mountain?
There is sufficient evidence that when it comes time to take a stance Obama fails to deliver. When his back is up against the wall all the glamor of the spot light fades away and you are left with a man that resembles nothing, but an empty shell of a self-important politician. This man has done nothing, and the people who he surrounds himself with are less than admirable to say it nicely.
There is NO comparison between Barack & Hillary. One is clearly ready to be the leader this country and the world needs. To support Barack is a betrayal of the Democratic Agenda, it's members, The American People, and the global community.
Anyone so eager to run after the first person that promises "Change", but has shown us nothing is more foolish than the voters that RE-ELECTED George Bush.
NO ONE in their right mind can believe that a man like Barack Obama could win a general election against the Republican Attack Machine. Do you really believe that Barack is a better candidate than Kerry; who was a decorated war veteran and was still Swift Boated? Does anyone believe that Obama will be able to handle the pressure, when you saw how ineffective he was in the Pennsylvania Debate, because some commentators asked him questions about wearing a flag pin and his Reverend?
For him to tell me and the rest of us that he didn't know the kind of inflammatory and offensive "sermons" Rev. Wright sometimes delivered, when he was a member of the congregation for 20 years, is an insult to my intelligence, and should be to your's as well.
