Did your dogs notice?
Earthquake in Nevada Makes Idaho Shudder
By Jill Kuraitis, 2-21-08
Something under my chair went tremble, shudder, whop.
It was just a baby whop. Right around 7:16 this morning, when I was writing.
As an ex-Californian who grew up with frequent small earthquakes, I had the fleeting thought that it might have been….in Idaho?
Naw.
Then I thought backward a few moments and remembered my dogs had been going ape for about five minutes, and I couldn’t figure out why.
I had given them each a cookie and a shrug, returned to my chair, and there was the whop.
CNN droned softly in the background, and I picked up the phrase “earthquake in Nevada.” Six-point-three. I whirled around to face the TV – yep, it was crawling across the bottom of the screen.
The U.S. Geological Survey has this: “The quake, centered 11 miles southeast of Wells, Nevada, struck at 6:16 a.m. PST, with a shallow epicenter of 6.27 miles (10km) deep.” Full report here.
Did you feel it? Is it a sign? Last night’s lunar eclipse, and now an earthquake?
Let’s have some new conspiracy theories. I’m sick of Area 51 and alien abductions.
