Green Homes, Xtreme Survival, Music

By Lucia Stewart, 10-05-07

A Musical Weekend
On Friday night, there’s a FREE one-of-a-kind concert at the Emerson Theater, featuring Olivea Watson, the Gibson Guitar New Musician Award for 2007— this event is part of HatchFest. On Saturday night, Fred Eaglesmith is playing at High Sides Brews & Tunes in Livingston – say happy birthday to the owner! And on Sunday, the Clumsy Lovers are rockin’ out at Chico Hot Springs - perfect way to stay warm in this cold weather.

Green Homes Tour
Take a tour of Bozeman’s solar powered, energy efficient homes and buildings on Saturday from 10:30-4:30pm. Chris Borton of Sage Mountain Center will give a presentation at the Bozeman Public Library before everyone hops on a bus for the green tour. Please call Refuge Sustainability Building Center to register, 585-9958.

Surviving the Extremes
What does it take to survive the most extreme scenario you can think of? Well, Kenneth Kamler M.D. will share what happens to the body and mind when human endurance is summoned when setting fractures in the Andes, treating frostbite in Antarctica and performing surgery deep in the Amazon rain forest. On Monday night in the SUB Ballroom at 7:30 pm, free.
