Oregon Senator Fears Plastic

Ah, plastic.
In a never going to happen, total waste of time innovative idea, an Oregon legislator suggested to ban single-use plastic bags from the state’s checkout stands.
A man who visited Missoula once said: The Earth didn’t know how to make plastic. Could it be the only reason we are here? Could be the answer to our age old philosophical question of why are we here; plastic!
Anyhow, the measure being led by Sen. Mark Hass, D-Beaverton, would still allow paper sacks, but is aimed at getting people to use reusable bags.
Hass told The Oregonian that plastic bags contribute to litter, are hard to recycle, hurt marine life and are made from fossil fuels.
His bill is considered a long shot in the month long session that began Monday.
Will it pass? No, it will not.

But I talked my wife into buying some of those re-usable bags.
She carries them around in the back seat all the time.
You ought to see the plastic bags the store folks are able to fit in them, though; when she does use them.
Why couldn't it pass? It's Oregon, dang it, that kooky state that passed the first bottle bill.
Though, I have to admit, I laughed at the plastic philosophy of the Missoula visitor.
