Parachute Found 20 miles From Oregon Border

Possible Break In D.B. Cooper Case

By Joseph Friedrichs, 3-26-08

After more than three decades of searching for clues and answers, the FBI has obtained the most worthwhile piece of evidence to date in the hunt for hijacker D.B Cooper.

The Seattle Post Intelligencer reports">Seattle Post Intelligencer reports that a parachute found where Cooper was believed to have jumped -an area located about 20 miles from the Oregon border in southwest Washington - could have been used during the man’s 1971 hijacking of a commercial plane.

The parachute was discovered earlier this month after a Washington man plowed part of the rural property he’s owned for nearly a decade, the Intelligencer reports. The man’s children came across the parachute while playing in the field.

And although the parachute won’t necessarily bring the FBI any closer to finding D.B. Cooper, it certainly won’t hurt the cause.
