Report: Missoula Housing Market Not Following Slump
By Courtney Lowery, 9-12-06
While more than half of the nation is experiencing a "contracting" housing market, the Missoula housing market is holding steady, according to a report released today by the Missoula Organization of Realtors.
Citing research from David Lereah, the chief economist of the National Association of REALTORS, the organization's report shows that Montana is in the 31 percent of the nation that is actually in an expanding housing market.
Judy Wahlberg, the organization's president, pointed to market indicators such as total home sales, median home price and average days on the market to show the Missoula market is still growing. Total home sales are up so far and days on the market are down, according to the number released in Tuesday's report:
2005 Jan 1 through Sept 9
Total Home Sales 1,060
Days on Market 109 days
Median Home Price $188,000
2006 Jan 1 through Sept 9
Total Home Sales 1,118
Days on Market 107 days
Median Home Price $205,850
