  • New West Festival: 2011
  • The Rise of the Rockies
  • Thursday Evening Reception, May 5th
  • Friday All-Day Sessions, May 6th

2010 ushered in a myriad of changes to the political, environmental, financial and social landscapes, and the New West team is focused on how those national and global changes have affected or will affect life in the Rocky Mountains. This conference will broaden from the traditional focus on real estate and development to include speakers and discussions closely allied with the content of the site: politics, energy, food and agriculture, and the arts.

The event will begin with a very special Thursday evening gathering and will resume with a full day of speakers, panels and discussion on Friday.

A speaker list and agenda will be posted in the next few weeks. If you have an idea for a topic, a speaker to suggest, or if you want early registration information, please send an email to conferences@newwest.net.

Our urban and rural lands are intertwining, our towns are transitioning into cities and how the New West matures is at the forefront of our minds. NewWest.Net and Boise State University present the first annual Planning in the West conference— a regional conversation aiming to engage a discussion about innovations of planning, and the challenges involved in helping our region grow in the most positive possible ways.

The conference will highlight best practices and cutting-edge planning tools; provide actionable information for resource-based planning and affordable housing; spur conversation about collaborative development processes; and offer a great networking venue for land development professionals from around the region.
