Warming Island (1 of 11)
Images from the exploration of an island formed by climate change. This perspective from the island back to mainland Greenland shows the retreating ice shelf that once connected the two. All over Greenland, new islands are appearing as the ice melts. The retreating ice shelf is 50-80 feet thick above the waterline.
