I hear your main point but in your merriment doing that...

"hollering like RuPaul on crystal meth"...
I dont like hearing drugs used in jokes or used period.

I am generally for personal freedom but any time I hear making light of addictive debilitating drugs I wish folks wouldnt.

With so many other alternatives drugs seem uncreative, lazy and stupid.

As a NATIVE of Northern Idaho (specifically Lewiston) I just have to shake my head and laugh (sadly) at this article. Yet another out-of-state idiot who's moved here and think they've found heaven and now have picked up our mantra of "Welcome to Idaho, now go home" for themselves. Like the Aryan Nations idiots who all moved here from the south after the KKK got run, now it's the "socially progressive." Everyone moves here and they think because they've lived here longer than 12 months that they're "Idahoans." But what gets me is why everyone who moves in from their various ratholes (Californians, listen up), who think that Idaho is "perfect," want to change it as soon as they get here to make it into their vision of perfection (and who take digs at hicks with their cars on blocks). On behalf of native Idahoans we'd just prefer you to take your PhD back to Ohio.

With all due respect, John, as a native Idahoan (specifically Moscow), I welcome Joan's presence as a countervailing force against others who are moving to my beloved town and area who have what I would charitably call strange, right wing religious views. Plus, if Joan were to leave, I'd have to do our radio show by myself....

Brett Long is a man after mine own heart. It’s a crying shame, the grand and noble Idaho that I grew up in is being adulterated with the likes of Ms. (or is it Mrs. or Mr.?) Opyr. Joan blatantly exploits this online magazine to further her selfish gay [sic] agenda in nearly every article she writes—pushing her deviant lifestyle towards people who are appalled by this same behavior. I am not sure why they (her editors) put up with her antics. Admittedly (even boasting about it on area list serves), she uses the resources of New West to attack people with whom she disagrees.. Are her personal disputes newsworthy to the majority of news-hungry New West readers? Obviously not, but it should be of concern when she attacks small Idaho communities at will if they (or any of their residents) get in her way or openly oppose her alternative lifestyle.

Thanks for bringing up old town names from my old stomping grounds! I was raised in Genesee.

Gay people are everywhere! Time for people to move on and accept people for who they are!
I guess some people must concentrate on the difference to make themselves feel superior?
