Got To Have A Chocolate Jesus
Monday With Tom Waits
By Joseph Friedrichs, 7-30-07
Editor’s Note: As August prepares to poke its face into 2007, it’s a sure-fire reminder that the end of summer is about to begin. And when change occurs in life, few things are better to comfort the soul than music. Particularly, the tunes of Mr. Tom Waits. The writing staff at NewWest.Net/Bend will feature one Waits’ clip each day this week to help ease the summer along.
The first installment of the Tom Waits tribute week is a live recording of the man himself on the Late Show With David Letterman.
The highlight of the video comes at the 2:55 minute mark. The dance moves Waits pulls off are simply incredible. I’ve been trying for several months to perfect the moves, but still have much to learn. I’ve got the confetti toss down, but the high-toe spin and reverse moonwalk are proving more difficult to master. Once replicated, I plan to use the Waits’ dance to a) pick up girls, and b) freak people out.
So here it is ladies and gentlemen, Tom Waits singing his classic, “Chocolate Jesus.”
