NewWest.Net is looking for a few good journalists.
We know you’re out there and we want to hear from you. Specifically, we are looking for one or two regular contributors--journalists who can cover general assignments and have some familiarity with what we write about: the outdoors, development, politics, culture and that elusive essence of what makes the West the West. Those interested should have the time and flexibility to jump on stories as they come up, as well as the inclination to work on longer narratives and interactive features.
Additionally, we’re looking to beef up our contributions from freelancers. That means if you have a pitch about a relevant topic in a relevant area (our territory is the Rocky Mountain West, which we define as Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado and parts of New Mexico), we want to hear about it. Please pitch us in the usual ways: Tell us what you want to write, why you want to write it for us and a reasonable estimation of when you can turn it in. Sending a few links to previous work and a rough estimation of what you’d like to be paid is never a bad idea.
So, get crackin’ ‘cause time’s a-wastin’. Send cover “letters” (ditch the formality and just introduce yourself), resumes, links to your work and story pitches to editor@newwest.net.

Having lived from the Black Hills to Montana to S. Utah to E. Oregon, I see that as the intermountain west. Anything east of the Sierra Nevada and west of the Rocky Mountain/Black Hills Front.
Living in Lakeview, Oregon - the heart of range and "sustainable energy" development, along with a healthy does of monumental features with monumental environmental/political/science issues to address - I'd love to send ya a coverletter......
....if I qualify as living in the intermountain west ;-)
