Richardson’s Announcement Stuns the World. Or Not

There’s no doubt that politicians love to tell a good, heart-ringing story, especially when they get the opportunity to flash a little patriotism. Richardson’s no different. The mother of Lance Corporeal Aaron Austin says a conversation Richardson frequently recounts on the campaign trail never occurred. Richardson used the story, which recounts how the mother only got $11,000, to launch state legislation increasing the death benefit soldiers’ families receive when they are killed in action.
The Nevada Appeal wants to know if Richardson will be the voice of the West. The newspaper’s editorial page came out strongly in favor of the New Mexico governor, who knows the West’s potential for alternative energy and the problems of illegal immigration.
