Resort officials announced Wednesday that a snowboarder died of a heart attack at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
Resort ski patrol received a call around noon that the man had fallen near the base of Rendezvous Bowl, the wide open snow field just below the mountain's 10,450-foot summit.
Upon arrival, patrollers found the man unresponsive and gave him CPR. They then transported the man to the resort's clinic where the attending physician pronounced him dead around 12:39 p.m.
"The staff at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort join me in expressing our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased," Jerry Blann, resort president, said in a statement.
