The Kingfisher Flyshop's Five-River Fishing Report
The Rivers Take a Rest
By The Kingfisher Fly Shop, 12-01-05
Bitterroot
12/1/2005
REPORTS: Still pretty much just a whitie fest, but even that's been tough recently with all the drift ice in the river. Look for more of the same as cold weather and 2 more snow systems move through the area over the next few days. Looks like a better time to stay home, tie flies or finish that rod you've been putting off.
HATCHES: midges.
FLIES: Midges ranging from palaminos to Griffith's gnats. Flashy and tiny brassie type stuff in green and red. The worm.

Blackfoot
12/1/2005
REPORTS: Nope, not gonna do it-wouldn't be prudent. Like all the other area rivers, the Blackfoot is flowing slush right now. Things'll get viable again here once the fronts move through and things warm up a bit, but for now, the local fishing is a non option.
HATCHES: midges.
FLIES: flashy small thingies.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Check out all the newly listed specials on the Kingfisher's online store.
Clark Fork
12/1/2005
REPORTS: Way too much floe ice right now to consider fishing the Clark Fork. Winter is here for real right now and with overnight lows down to the mid to low teens, it'll be awhile before the rivers are even willing to give up the Rocky Mountain bone fish. Looks like a good time to sign up for one of our rodbuilding or flytying classes.
HATCHES: midges.
FLIES: Only the smallest, cutest ones in your box.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Look for the daily updates to begin again March 15th.
Missouri
12/1/2005
REPORTS: Mostly cloudy with highs of 15 to 20 degrees. Hmmm, suddenly the flats off Bonaire are sounding pretty good! If you must, it'll be standard winter Mo fare such as small flashbacks, scuds worm/egg combos. You'll be better off waiting a week or so until the highs get above freezing!
HATCHES: midges.
FLIES: Griffith's gnats, size 16 and 18 pink and gray scuds, small brassies and copper Bobs, tiny flashback p-tails, red San Juans, pink or salmon colored egg patterns.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Check out the new for '06 line of Simms at www.kingfisherflyshop.com
Rock Creek
12/1/2005
REPORTS: If you can find protected pockets and pools along the way, you can whack a few fish with nymphs up here. Both drift ice and bank ice are becoming issues on the creek these days, so conditions are less than perfect. You'll be better off taking a break until things warm up a bit more.
HATCHES: midges.
FLIES: Any midsize nymphs. Egg and worm patterns.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The newest rods from both Sage and Winston are now in stock at The Kingfisher. The VT-2 from Sage is the latest evolution in the RPL/VPS series and is available exclusively in Missoula at The Kingfisher. The Vapor and Ascent are the two new additions to the Winston line and are priced considerably less than all the other rods from this company. Check 'em out on our online store www.kingfisherflyshop.com
