Unintended Consequences of a Gary Trauner Victory in Wyoming
By Daryl L. Hunter, Unfiltered 11-01-06
Governor Dave, what a surprise he was. As a conservative it was a great disappointment to me when Dave Freudenthal became Wyoming Governor in 2002. Upon his victory I wrote an article-reprimanding Wyoming for endorsing a nanny state liberal but Governor Dave has proven me wrong. I was so wrong that I like him, as a matter of fact, I like him so much I don’t see how the Democrats can stand him. Gov. Dave bless his heart is a DINO (Democrat in name only) and although I would rather have a Republican in the seat, there would be nothing wrong with another four years of Gov. Dave.
It is doubtful that, Gary Trauner, Barbara Cubin’s challenger for Wyoming’s House seat will be able to represent conservative Wyoming in the fashion that Wyoming native Governor Dave has. Governor Dave as a Wyoming native has built a lifetime of empathy with the industries that make Wyoming successful, farming, ranching, mineral extraction and logging. Trauner, a New York native, admits knowing little about agriculture but is willing to learn. When Trauner answered, “What is a Wolf” when asked by Planet Jackson Hole, his reply revealed he probably has a ‘Jackson Hole’ wolf position instead of a Wyoming one, a position he doesn’t want to reveal.
But lets imagine that Gary Trauner turns out to be a clone of Gov. Dave, a Trauner win could bring some changes that neither ‘Wyoming’s conservative Democrats or Republicans could stomach.
When you vote for Trauner you are really voting for San Francisco liberal Nancy Pelosi as well. If Trauner is the representative that gives the Democrats the majority in the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi will be Majority Leader and will set the agenda for the House of Representatives.
Ms. Pelosi voted against all tax cuts that have brought us out of the economic downturn that started in 2000 when the stock market fell from it’s former peak of 11,722 on 1/14/2000 to 9,796 on 3/7/2000. The economy tumbled farther the following year after 911 and the corporate scandals which made the market bottom out at 7,286 on 10/9/2002. Bush’s 2001 and 2003 tax cuts have pushed the Stock Market to a record 12,100 plus points in spite of the cost of our War on Islamic Fascism. Ms. Pelosi claimed tax cuts would lower tax revenue to the treasury, in 2004 tax revenues to the US Treasury grew 5.5%. In 2005 they increased another 14%, or 274 billion dollars, and they continue to grow by double digits again this year proving Democrat conventional wisdom wrong. Ms. Pelosi wants to kill this golden goose that has saved our economy during a very difficult time.
Pelosi voted against Bush’s national energy policy, an assault on Wyoming, as it is an energy state dependant on energy production to keep us state income tax free, she voted against authorizing construction of new oil refineries, an assault on end users of gasoline. She voted no on making the Patriot Act permanent, voted no on banning same-sex marriage, voted no on protecting the Pledge of Allegiance and no on prohibiting flag desecration. She received an F rating by the NRA, indicating a pro-gun control voting record. She was rated 0% by FAIR (Federation for American Immigration Reform), indicating a voting record loosening immigration. Nancy Pelosi is not the person we want to run the House of Representatives.
The problems with a Democrat Congress doesn’t end with Nancy Pelosi. Upon a Pelosi win Charles Rangel will become chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, Rep Rangel has vowed to repeal our tax cuts. Rangel will wield the chairman's gavel over the tax-writing committee and this New York liberal will write many new ones. Rangel also introduced H.R.4752, a bill to bring back the draft.
John Conyers upon a Democrat takeover would become Judicial Committee Chairman. On 12/18/2005 John Conyers introduced H.R. 635 creating a select committee to fish for reasons to impeach Bush and Cheney. If a Trauner victory flips the house John Conyers will see to it that impeachment proceedings will go forward.
As a Wyoming immigrant Gary would probably make a fine state representative for Jackson, as a majority of Jackson residents are émigrés from the east like Trauner. It may be a wise decision to send Mr. Trauner to the Wyoming Legislature in Cheyenne before trusting him with the big house in Washington.
Although I normally trust bald politicians that don’t wear toupees I can’t help but wonder: “What is a Wolf?”
