Utah Congressman Eyes Mechanism to Block Nuclear Waste

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that "Rep. Rob Bishop has inserted language into a must-pass defense bill that seeks to block plans to store nuclear waste in Utah." The provision would create wilderness areas in Utah in such a way that a rail line necessary for the storage would no longer be feasible.

The Wilderness Act comes under fire in some conservative circles, but, man, when you don't want development, it sure can be a useful tool.
