The Arizona Daily Sun reports that some Flagstaff residents, including Veterans, are upset that Wal-Mart is comparing a citizens' initative to regulate big box stores with Hitler's book burning fests. Tom Farley, the man behind the ads says, they will "make people think." Hitler's book burning also made people think. Making people think doesn't excuse stupid, stupid actions.

Let there be no misunderstanding about the mission of Wal-Mart and other national "big box"
facilities. They will shut down every form of competition and when they complete that mission there will be hell to pay for us all. Wal-Marts "kingdom of heaven" approach to advertising is one of the biggest fabrications in our Nation.
To the people of Flagstaff I commend your efforts and wish you all success. For many towns and cities its already too late.

One more comment about Wal-Mart. To call americans, especially veterans, "Hitlerites" is a clear indication of your stupidity and intent. Speaking these words to fellow veterans should bring you to your knees. Where do I inlist!!!!

Struggling for damage control Wal-Mart has now officially apologized for the ad, calling it a "terrible" mistake, according to a story Saturday in the Washington Post. The company also ran a full-page ad to that effect Sunday in the Arizona Daily Sun, the paper where the first ad appeared on May 8. But the repercussions and criticisms continue, as you can read on this site from Walmartwatch.com.
