Flathead Weekend
Weekend Sounds and Scenes

Tonight (and Saturday)
Head to Reds Wine’s and Blues (30 2nd St. E in downtown Kalispell) and have a drink, some great eats and check the tunes of Tom Catmull, performer of just about everything under the sun (pop, blues, country and ballads). Come on, just go; everyone will be there. Tom Catmull will also be at Reds on Saturday, if you can’t get enough of him or the chicken lettuce wraps.
If Whitefish is where you want to be, go to Flanagan’s Central Station (862.8888) for some of the only hip-hop for miles. The Crown City Rockers are a genre-blending hip-hop group influenced by The Roots, De La Soul, Tribe, etc. Show starts at 9 P.M. If it’s a nice dinner with Mom and Dad you’re looking for, the restaurant at Whitefish Lake Golf Course is featuring The Jay Thomas Quartet, a group including (you guessed it) Jay Thomas on trumpet and saxophone, pianist Tony Foster, bass player Russ Botton and Don Caverly, drummer. They’ve also got Miriam Singer on board, who will, quite predictably, sing.
James and the Giant Peach, Roald Dahl’s wonderful children’s story, is onstage tonight at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish tonight and Saturday. Tonight’s show is at 7:30 P.M. and Saturday’s shows are at 2:00 and 7:30 P.M. Abigail McLaren, theatre extraordinaire (and a friend of mine) is directing this show and it will be a blast for all ages. Call 862.5371 for tickets.
Saturday Only
Go to Martin City! A band called Landslide is rocking the Southfork Bar at 8 P.M.
