How Grownups Have FunI went to the Sun Women's networking event at the Gordon Biersch Brewery, at Flatirons Mall in Broomfield. These Sun Women events are great - I wish more companies would do the same thing. As I'm always saying, there's not enough mixed (corporate and entrepreneurial) networking here in the Rocky Mountain State, and so my hat's off to anyone (like the wonderful women of Sun) who puts in the effort to get more of our business-folk together.
The only bad thing is that I could only stay at the event for an hour, because I had to get a little girl back to Boulder by six p.m. And I wasn't too happy about it.

Not So Scary NetworkingI was on Pearl Street Mall in Boulder three or four times last week, an unusual frequency for me given that I've got five small kids and spend more of my time on unaesthetic 28th Street than in our charming downtown. I was networking like crazy last week, a good move given the gorgeous Fall weather. I even ate outside a couple of times at the 14th Street Grill. These meet-and-greet or catch-up lunches came from a combination of the talk I gave at the Boulder Chamber a couple of weeks ago and a bunch of networking that my colleagues at WorldWIT have been doing this Fall. The funny and crazy thing about meeting people in the Boulder area is how unlikely it is, how unusual it is, to meet someone with whom you don't already have a half dozen contacts in common. I'd love to see a cluster diagram of the Boulder-area business network. It seems that there are no outlyers. We're all already connected, we just don't always know it. [more]
