Rep. Chris Cannon is always good for an eye rolling or a pat on the back depending on your point of view. Love him or hate him, Cannon knows how to stir the pot and seems to thrive on playing the perfect partisan.
Over at the Utah State Democratic Party blog Party Chairman Wayne Holland points out that “The Cannon” recently voted against four House bills that would increase transparency in government. The Bills include legislation to reaffirm aspects of the Freedom of Information Act of 2007, an amendment that would strengthen the Presidential Records Act, a Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act and Presidential Library Donation reform.
“We are extremely disappointed Congressmen Cannon and Bishop were unwilling to join with Congressman Matheson in supporting all four of these pieces of legislation” says Holland. “With these bills enjoying such strong support among both Democrats and most Republicans in the House, Congressman Chris Cannon in particular demonstrates with his opposition to these reforms just how far outside of the mainstream he has moved over the years.”
