Idaho Sen. Larry Craig will resign this morning at 10:30 at the Boise Train Depot.
Let me guess...it will be "I did not have relations with that foot."
Comment By Sisyphus, 8-31-07Maybe he's running for president.
Comment By Jill Kuraitis, 8-31-07Discussion question: Since his resignation isn't effective until September 30, how do you feel about paying his salary during that time - about $11,000?
Comment By Sisyphus, 8-31-07A small price.
Comment By 6degrees, 8-31-07Perhaps he can be encouraged to donate it to the Lambda Legal Defense Fund :-).
Comment By Marion, 8-31-07Funny what a stir this has caused, and how corrupt he has to be to have touched someone's foot. On the other hand, a convicted felon who has supposedly been on the lam for 15 years and has been a big fundraiser for Hillary is fine, no hint of corruption there.
Comment By mike, 8-31-07Well, Marion, now that you brought it up, I guess we also have to remember that Helen Chenoweth was, technically and literally, a tattooed adultress.
Comment By Cindy Kessler, 9-01-07The pressure on this hypocrite did not come from Dems---it came from all the moral values hypocrites on the right---all the so called upright and better than anyone else Repubs in DC and in the outlands---people like Marion who can't call a spade a spade without trying to blame the Dems for the sun raising today---oh well---I'm just glad that you all are now the minority and that means real work will begin to get done in this land of ours.
Comment By Tim from MT, 9-01-07Funny Marion you bring up Hsu. However your facts are all wrong like usual. Hsu donated money to many campaigns Hillary being the most notable. He isn't a convicted felon. He's under investigation for something relating to a bankruptcy of company he was part of. He isn't in hiding at all, in fact after the Wall Street Journal did that article he contacted the California police and posted a bond. Funny how when Republicans try to dig up a scandal all the facts are wrong but when one of their own wallows in the mud it's a reason to point finger at the other side.
Comment By mike, 9-01-07Yes, well, there it is... I also like the symbolism of him resigning at the train station; it gives the whole thing that "run out of town on a rail" sense of justice.
Comment By Marion, 9-01-07He pled guilty 15 years ago to grand theft, and did not show up for snetencing. He is still under investigation of defrauding millions from investors also. He has been "bundling" donations from folks of rather modest means, and that is how his whereabouts came to light, they were checking them.
I think it is pretty ironic that any taint of scandal gets a Republicn pushed out, any corruption at all is fine with the Democrats. there is always "charity" if they get caught. And of course a standing ovation if it is bad enough, and ignored by the MSM enough.
Marion,
As for the "liberal" response to the Hsu scandal, take a look at this dairy from DailyKos:
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/8/29/1174/24972
It hardly suggests that it is OK to accept these contributions, but also notes that the Clinton campaign (and others) had no prior knowledge of the crimes committed by this individual.
Whoops! Meant "diary" not "dairy" :-)
