Open Casting for Next Lottery Commercial for American Idol Scratch Tickets

By J. Gelband, 12-12-07

Tryouts for the next season of American Idol are not going to be held in Boise. But don’t chuck your dreams of being an American Idol just yet.

North By Northwest, a Spokane- and Boise-based production company, is looking for several people to be featured in an upcoming series of television commercials for the Idaho Lottery’s new American Idol scratch ticket game.

Okay, so there’s no Ryan Seacrest, but the prospective notoriety is pretty sweet, and on the plus side there is no Simon Cowell either.

Individuals can video tape themselves singing any audition song, turn it in and potentially star in a commercial and get $500.

The production company is looking for idols to record with a locked down camera and an unedited, all-in-one-take performance, not a music video. It will not be judged on camera quality, lighting or any other technical aspect. They will select the most interesting tapes, not the best vocalists, so if you’ve got pipes like William Hung you are welcome to submit tapes.

Some simple rules before you dust off the camcorder: If you write and perform your own song, don’t sing about money or winning the lottery; and everyone who participates must be 18 years or older per state law. They will most certainly check.

Send a video tape to NxNW, 601 Broad Street, Boise, ID 83702 or email a video file (QuickTime or Window Media, 7MB or less) to . North By Northwest must have all entries by Monday, Dec. 17.
Good luck, the entire state will be watching.

Wouldn't it be better to entitle this article "Open Casket" rather than "Open Casting" as people would be preparing to see their money for one last time as they grieve the loss from playing the lottery?
