$230K in first quarter 2008

Minnick Has Raised $638K in Race for Idaho’s First Congressional District

By Jill Kuraitis, 4-15-08

The reason Walt Minnick is now the de facto Democratic nominee for the 1st Congressional District race against Republican Congressman Bill Sali is clearer than ever with the latest campaign finance reports filed Monday.

In the first quarter of this year, Minnick raised $228,00, bringing his campaign-so-far total to $638K

Minnick’s former primary opponent, Larry Grant, raised $30,000 in the first quarter, bringing his total to $91,000

Grant dropped out of the race April 10.

Minnick’s campaign press release says 98.6 percent of contributions are from individuals and 1.4 percent are from PACs.

“I’m humbled by the number of people who are supporting this campaign with contributions of time and money,” Minnick said. “Our campaign’s real success over the last three months has been the growing momentum from the thousands of people we met in Idaho’s First Congressional District.”

In the first quarter of this year, Minnick’s Republican opponent Sali raised $108K, bringing his campaign-so-far total to $428K.

Sali and Minnick are both accepting outsider funds - money from PACs, residents of other states, and other organizations. Did they sellout? Do you think either of them would represent Idahoans in District One fairly and justly? I don't.
The other Republican Candidate that is not mentioned in the above is Matthew Salisbury. He is a 4th generation Idahoan, Veteran of both the US Army Rangers & the Idaho Guard, has his Masters Degree in International Diplomacy, and he turns down PAC money. He is a common sense conservative who is ready, willing, and highly capable of representing Idahoans in the US House of Representatives.
