On February 17, 2009, federal law requires that all full-power television broadcast stations stop broadcasting in analog format and broadcast only in digital format.
Why the switch to digital?
Digital is a more efficient way to broadcast. Digital will free up the airwaves for other services, including public safety. Digital provides clearer pictures, more channels, and some free, over-the-air high definition content for consumers with HDTV sets.
So, how do consumers make the switch to digital TV? Who needs to switch? Who will it affect? Watch the video below produced by Vann’s, Montana PBS, Pioneer and Samsung for a full explanation. Or, visit the links below the video for additional articles on the DTV Transition. If you still have questions, please stop by your local Vann’s.
