Why the Blogger is Not Blogging

Posting will be light, or maybe non-existent, as we travel to Oklahoma to see my grandmother.

Last Thursday, she was diagnosed with leukemia and immediately began chemotherapy.

The boy, the dog, the husband and I will be making the 12-hour drive twice in three days. The boy is two. The boy will be in a car seat for over 24 hours, People are looking forward to seeing the boy, thus I need to deliver a happy and rested child. I am devising many diversions – tin foil masks, puppets, audio books, and sing-a-long tapes. Any and all suggestions for traveling with a two-year-old are welcome.

Posting will resume on Monday. Look for posts about ranching on BLM land, Soledad Canyon after the fire, Heath Haussamen, university cats, impressing the neighbors and the border fence.

If you are following the Doña Ana County Wilderness Debate, Jim Scarantino explains the Pearce bill at Haussamen on New Mexico Politics and Range Specialist Jerry Schickedanz weighs in at New Mexico Federal Lands Council.

I suck as a mother. I bought a portable DVD player for our plane ride in March, and now I use it for long car trips. I've made up arbitrary rules to make me feel better about letting my daughter watch mind-numbing amounts of Clifford the Big Red Dog and Curious George, but she is quiet and entertained on car trips. Good luck!

How was your trip. I've heard about the DVD players too. So far I've not used one, but we'll see as time goes by.
