  Caption: Welcome to Boring.

As the pioneers trudged west all though years ago they used up city names from Missouri to New Mexico. Eventually the travelers arrived to Oregon where the established settlements and cities. Naturally they had to give these locations names. And some of the names they dubbed are nothing short of great comedy.

The collection is quite profound, these Oregon city names.

And after some serious investigation here’s the list of the ten best city names in Oregon.

10. Rufus

9. Wonder

8. Promise

7. Echo

6. Lime

5. Brothers/ Sisters

4. Zigzag

3. Sodaville

2. Drain

1. Boring

Bonus City: Rumor has it that there’s a tiny Oregon city known as Nowhere. My friend Ken, a world traveler, swears it exists although no map can support his claim. However, I was able to track down this fantastic quote regarding the mysterious Oregon city: “I had to drive out to bumfuck Nowhere to pick his drunk ass up.”

Wow, how did Nimrod miss the list?? I like to think of it being named after the term coined by Bugs Bunny in reference to that "nimrod Elmer Fudd", rather than any biblical reference.

The Urban Dictionary lists a Bumfuck, Idaho, a Bumfuck, Egypt, the generic Bumfuckknowhere as well as BFNowhere that's alternate name for Bullengarook, Australia. Oregon Place Names (where you can look up almost any town _except_ for Nimrod, which the author left out 'cause he couldn't find a credible source for the place name's origin and any serious writer living in Oregon _must_ have on her/his bookshelf) mentions no Oregon spot by this title, though.
