Boise Mayor Dave Bieter is an avid bicycle rider, but he never thought he’d ride with an Olympic gold medalist through the streets of his hometown.
Saturday it will be a party time as the mayor and citizens will honor Boise cyclist Kristin Armstrong
Instead of riding in a traditional gas-powered parade vehicle, they will lead a bike caravan starting at 10:30 a.m. It will start at the Downtown YMCA, 1050 W. State Street, where Armstrong is a teacher, and end at City Hall Plaza….and Mayor Bieter is calling on the public to ride along.
At City Hall, the public is invited to a ceremony honoring Armstrong and her achievement. The ceremony will start around 11:00 a.m.
Show up with your bike at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Downtown Y and be a part of Boise history.
More details:
Downtown parking will be limited, so arrive early. Better yet, ride your bike.
The Capitol Garage between Capitol and 8th will have only limited parking.
Grove Street and Eastman parking garages, or the parking tower at Bodo, are better bets, if you are early.
Road closures:
Washington Street between 10th and 11th
10th from State to Washington
State from 10th to 9th
9th from State to Main
Main from 9th to 6th
Capital Blvd. from Front to Idaho
Idaho from 6th to 8th
Congrats Kristin!! You Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
