Buying local has never been trendier. It’s also never been more important.
In these tough economic times, every dollar counts and the best way to make sure it does is by spending it with neighbors.
As a small local business ourselves, we know firsthand that when you do business locally, not only are you getting great products and services, you’re helping your local economy thrive and you’re establishing the kinds of relationships that make Missoula such a great place to work and live.
That’s why we started the New West Buy Local Blog, a place to explore the ethic of keeping our community vibrant by buying local.
The Garden City has a long-standing passion for being neighborly, so there is no shortage of good fodder for the Buy Local Blog: News, essays and tips from local writers, community leaders, business owners, foodies and artists.
Be neighborly. Buy local. Read local.
[End of article]Nathan,
I really believe in the buy local campaign. We practice it and it has made a huge difference. Not only do we give our customers referrals but we have gotten referrals back. We also listed some of our customer's websites on our website. This is a great way to help them market their businesses. You can see our website at http://www.businessbysafeguard.com
I look forward to more of your blog.

You are right on!! We need to invest right HERE - within our own city we love! Thanks for the blog and keep up the good work.
I completely support buying local. Every dollar is acutally a vote. So, a vote for a local company will keep them around. Have you heard of Green Directory Montana. They actually certify businesses on how green or sustainable they are. check out there web site at http://www.greendirectorymontana.com.
Comment By Melinda Hickey, 11-26-08Not only can you buy locally, but send your favorite stores' web sites to your out of town family & friends. I live in Nashville, TN, but all my kiddos and grandkids live in Missoula. I LOVE Walkingstick Toys, not just because it's my daughter-in-law's store, but because of the fantastic quality, so I send her site to everyone I know!! So spread the word! I can't do the same for Bryan's yummy ice cream at The Big Dipper, so you guys will have to promote that business locally for me. Missoula is the "Coolest!" Happy Thanksgiving from a proud Mama in Tennessee.

Thanx for this interesting post. But I had difficult time navigating through your site because I kept getting 502 bad gateway error. Just thought to let you know.
