Bitterroot
4/14/2006
REPORTS: The entire river is on the rise again due to the fact that all the fish in the 'root decided to take a whiz at the same time. It's going to take a day or two, now, to get this out of the river system. It'll also help if it doesn't rain anymore because the heavy drops falling on the surface is what's been scaring the fish into this collective behavior in the first place. Water clarity is poor and the fishing is not much of a happy thing either.
Blackfoot
04/14/2006
REPORTS: See, now the reason the Blackfoot's on the rise again this morning is because there's a whole heard of elk that're standing in the water up near Cutthroat Alley all at the same time. It's exactly the same principle as when you put a donkey in the bathtub. Not much to do now other than wait for the losers to continue on their way and stop silting things up with their self-indulgent river dancing. It'll be awhile.
Clark Fork
4/14/2006
REPORTS: Here we go again! Not that there was much water clarity before, especially below Milltown, but the push of water we're seeing now (due primarily to those ill behaved fish on the 'root) will keep good fishing at bay for at least another 4 days or so. We need some drier weather to let the ground dry out a bit and the rivers to hook back down for real. How's THAT for ironic? The Clark will SUCK today - even up high. How's that for succinct?
Missouri
4/14/2006
REPORTS: The river below Holter is up about 300 cfs since yesterday morning. It looks like it's going to be another windy day over here as well. Lots of the fish are out of the river spawning right now and there are trolls under each bridge who will beat you with sticks whenever you pass. Other than that, the Mo looks pretty good. Actually, it's still in the, "you'll work hard for the fish you catch" mode right now. If you don't mind some company and are up for a switch, the fatties are cruising the shorlines of Holter and Hauser right now and that can be fun. Very visual fishing for BIG fish. If you have a Smith permit, the flow over there today is on the rise at 437. Plenty of water for floating, but bound to be carrying some color. Got your san juans and girdle bugs? Your black buggers? Then you're good to go!

REPORTS: Hmm. The creek's back on the rise and is up over 100 cfs on the lower end in the past 24 hours. It'll be losing some clarity due to this push, but the upper end should still give up decent fishing with nymph rigs or slow moving streamers. Won't be much going on on the lower 1/2 today with the new push of cold water. A dry day or two and the creek will come back into shape in a hurry.
