Sharon Fisher is a writer and editor specializing in technology and how it applies to governments, particularly on the state level and particularly in the Northwest.
She is working on her Masters in Public Administration from Boise State University and a certificate in Regional and Community Planning from the same institution. She is a member of the Pi Alpha Alpha MPAA honor society and a graduate assistant at Boise State researching policies and best practices for electronic documents from state agencies. She is also a graduate of the Northwest Community Development Institute. In addition, she is a principal for Gem State Community Development, a technology-based economic development consultancy.
Her writing has appeared on a staff or freelance basis in Computerworld, Byte, www.BetaNews.com, CommunicationsWeek, Infoworld, Network World, PC World, Macworld, Wired, InformIT, and many other publications. She is also the author of Riding the Internet Highway, which was published in 1993 and sold 55,000 copies. She served as a research director at Gartner Inc. for seven years and has also interned for the Idaho State Legislature's Joint Finance Appropriations Committee.
