Amy started out covering a riot zone for the Miami Herald, but knew she’d really rather be in Philadelphia (where she became a writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer) or at the very least in California (where she covered city hall and wrote features for the San Francisco Examiner and the Chronicle). Missoula, her true home, got its grips on her in 1991, when she arrived to pursue an MFA in creative writing, and had the wondrous opportunity to take classes from UM’s literary stars. Since then she’s been an editor for Wired magazine, a senior editor for Outside magazine, and -- grateful to be back in Montana -- a staffer for the Missoulian and the Missoula Independent. When she’s not laptop-bound, Amy likes to go for runs, laugh at her dog, hang out with her amazing daughter, and sneak downstairs to watch Project Runway in her basement. She does not know how to sew.
