Ted Alvarez, the writer of New West's "The West Less Traveled" feature, grew up in the concrete-and-pine-trees wasteland of Houston, TX, but from birth, his parents made the critical and life-altering decision to save the souls of their children by carting them off to the Rocky Mountains every spare moment. Only when young Ted moved to New York City chasing big media dreams did they actually move to Colorado full-time. Jerks. Since then, he's slowly shaken off the shackles off the Northeast by splitting his time between Tribeca and the foothills of Colorado's front range. If you can't reach him, it's equally possible he's lost in the backcountry or rocking out in a dive bar on the Lower East Side. He promises to get back to you as soon as he bags the summit or finishes the set.
