It was only after realizing that he wasn’t cut out to be a professional
athlete as an early teen that Brian Staker decided his lifetime ambition was
to become a writer. To this end he attended the University of Utah not once
but twice, not fully convinced that it was a foolish road to travel until
attaining an MFA in Creative Writing. In spite of the experience, he did
emerge with two unpublished novels and poems accepted by Western
Humanities Review
and the New Yorker. In the following years he
has contributed articles to Utah Outdoors, Utah Business,
Salt Lake Magazine, Salt Lake City Weekly, and many other
local publications.

College studies weren’t punishment enough, so a year ago Staker married an
artist/graphic designer. They share their love of argumentative discussion
and the arts in all their forms, particularly independent films and music.
