Located high atop Lost Trail Pass in the breathtaking Bitterroot Mountains, Lost Trail Powder Mountain is Montana’s Greatest Snow Place.
With over 300 inches of average annual snowfall, Lost Trail is known for epic powder, smiling faces and a relaxed, family atmosphere that locals cherish and visitors come back for.
Opened in 1938, Lost Trail is one of Montana’s longest-running ski area operations and retains that classic Western ski charm today.
Boasting five double chairlifts and a number of kid-friendly surface lifts, Lost Trail features a vertical-drop of 1,800 ft with more than 50 marked trails spread out across 900 acres on two mountains.
The Lost Trail Ski School is known as one of the best in Western Montana and is comprised of experienced skiers and snowboarders who specialize in making learning to love the snow a fun and memorable experience.
Lost Trail is also the local leader in freestyle snow sports. With two terrain parks sporting a variety of features from big-air kickers, custom boxes and handrails to handcrafted log jibs and man-made cliffs, skiers and boarders will find plenty of opportunity to progress their park skills.
Situated 90 minutes south of Missoula, MT, and only 40 minutes from Salmon, ID, with US Highway 93 running right to the lodge, Lost Trail is an easily accessible powder destination with plenty of lodging opportunities nearby.
Lost Trail has always been about affordable skiing and that tradition is still strong - our $35 adult lift tickets are among the cheapest in the region.
With a full cafeteria including beer and wine available in our classic log-cabin lodge and plenty of outdoor deck space, there’s lots to do even when your boots are drying by the hearth.
