Boulder Bike Routes on Google Maps
By Richard Martin, 5-15-07
Now this is cool: Boulder cycling enthusiast Alfred Sawatzky has created a Boulder Bike Paths page on Google's My Maps site. Not only can you see a digital version of the main bike and multi-use paths in town, but you can use the map for quick navigation. Say you want to bike to the East Boulder Community Center, using the bike paths. Just type to name of the center into the search field and the location map comes up, overlaid with the bike paths. It's a great way to "make it easier for people to see how they can get to destinations on designated bike routes," as Sawatzky writes on his blog. Even better would be to add on-street bike routes to the designated paths – so if you're going to Proto's Pizza on North Broadway, for instance, you could see which streets have bike lanes to get up there. A tip of the cycling helmet to Sawatzky for creating this interactive tool.
