Break-In at LaRocco for Senate Office
By Jill Kuraitis, 5-05-08
Somebody kicked in the locked door at LaRocco for Senate campaign headquarters on Saturday and did a “couple of hundred dollars” in damages, according to LaRocco’s communications director Dean Ferguson.
Since the intruder didn’t take anything of value – like expensive computers and equipment - “We will not know whether this was a politically motivated break-in or just a random act of senseless violence until the Boise police conclude their investigation,” said Bob Stout, campaign manager for LaRocco for Senate.
Ferguson told New West: “They didn’t even take any LaRocco frisbees or tee-shirts. Makes us think it wasn’t a supporter who did this.”
“Honestly, we’re scratching our heads. And we won’t know if they accessed campaign files on the computers until the police tell us.”
A criminal report was filed with the Boise Police Department, who are investigating.
The campaign office is on 919 27th Street, Boise, Idaho.
LaRocco, a former U.S. Representative, was out of town at an event in Idaho Falls. He has 13 paid campaign staff, a multitude of volunteers across the state and a field office in Twin Falls.
UPDATE 5:15 p.m. Dean Ferguson told New West that another door at LaRocco for Senate headquarters has been found with signs of an attempt to break in. A sliding glass door has new pry marks, scratches and a bent frame. Ferguson said it was “signs of more shenanigans.”
