Chris Fairbanks tickles Boise’s Funny Bone

By Colin Hickey, 1-16-07

Chris Fairbanks is a stand-up comedian, artist, skateboarder, golfer, actor, designer…and the list goes on. Chris moved away from Missoula seven years ago in search of something bigger and he ended up in Austin. While in Austin he quickly made a name for himself as a force on the stand-up clubs in town. In 2003 Chris was voted the funniest person in Austin. He stared in short indie films Dance Club (a parody of fight club involving dancing) and Soap Scum (Chris played the nervous stalkeresque guy). After growing too big for Austin Chris moved to LA -- the obvious choice for a up and coming comedian/actor. During all of this moving and shaking Chris still stayed true to his Missoula friends by drawing T-Shirts, CD covers and skateboards for locals like Volumen, Bacon & Egg and Edge of the World. When Chris isn’t on the stage he’s working on art projects for numerous businesses. Chris says he has a 50/50 career split between being a stand up and a commercial artist. Even with his plate being that full he’s been able to accomplish some amazing things in the last seven years. Some of his accomplishments include performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, MTV’s That 70’s House and Montreal’s Just for Laughs Festival. All of this while touring the states playing random night clubs.

Chris will be performing at the Funny Bone Comedy Club in Boise from Jan 17-21 and 24-28. Shows start at 8pm every night with second sets at 10 on Friday and Saturday. Here are some clips from some of Chris’s various performances.
