Free Films A go-go!

Free Holiday Films in SLC

By Tawnya Mosier, 12-13-06

In keeping with holiday tradition, folks can catch the 1966 television production of How The Grinch Stole Christmas (narrated by the great Boris Karloff) when it's screened at the Salt Lake City Public Library's downtown branch on Monday, December 18th. But that's not the only festive thing going on in Who-ville, because before the screening local actor Tony Larimer will perform a reading of the classic Dr. Seuss story in the library's main auditorium. The whole thing starts at 7pm and you'll need to RSVP to info@slcfilmcenter.org or 801-746-7000 to reserve your seat because they're expecting quite a crowd. So, get on that. Like, now.

And starting what might become a brand new holiday tradition, the Free Form Film Festival is teaming up with the Lost Media Archive to present a free screening of Christmas-related film and video clips on Thursday, December 21st at Starry Night in Provo. The Lost Media Archive is a growing archive of fringe, outsider, kitsch and cult film/video and audio material and the screening is sure to hold some cool forgotten pieces of cinematic history. The Archive is hoping local film lovers and filmmakers will attend to not only enjoy the show but also to find out how they can become involved with the archive. Doors open at 7:30 and the show starts at 8pm.
