New edition of Idaho travel guide
Idaho Off the Beaten Path
Save gas and money with day trips this holiday weekend.By Jill Kuraitis, 7-01-08
Idaho Off the Beaten Path by Boise author Julie Fanselow is part of a national guidebook series published by The Globe Pequot Press. Fanselow has written and updated the Idaho book since the first edition appeared in 1995.
The new edition’s Southwestern Idaho chapter features such additions as Boise’s Linen District, Nampa’s Belle District, Eagle Island State Park and a growing collection of murals in Mountain Home.
“No other Idaho travel guidebook is updated as often as this one,” said Fanselow, who has lived in Idaho since 1989. In addition, her blog at idahotravelguidebook.com constantly updates changes to the print edition of the book. Readers can also suggest future additions or corrections to the book at the site.
Idaho Off the Beaten Path is a good book to have around in this new era of high gas prices, Fanselow said. “It’s divided by region, and people will find interesting places to visit for day trips, weekends, or longer. After all, it can be as much of an adventure to try a new-to-you restaurant or bed-and-breakfast one or two towns over as it is to spend a lot of time and money going somewhere.”
Fanselow will sign books at Rediscovered Bookshop, 7079 Overland Road, Boise, starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 3.

I also have a new blog at http://www.idahotravelguidebook.com where people can post suggestions for future editions of the book (and corrections for this one ... unfortunately, some of the restaurants I mention have gone out of business since my deadline, including Mortimer's and Milky Way).
