Music in Missoula this Weekend

All sorts of great musical happenings are going on this weekend. Here are a few that have piqued my interest…

Friday

Best Friends Forever, Good Neighbor Policy, The Apples of Dischord and Sleepeater @ The Badlander.  Best Friends Forever are an all girl poppy rock band from Minneapolis.  I had the pleasure of seeing these girls a couple years ago and I’ve been waiting for this return show for a long time.  With songs about how much they love Abraham Lincoln and Orlando Bloom they will definitely have you laughing all night. Click here for Best Friends Forever’s Myspace page, here for Good Neighbor Policy’s page.

Zeppo @ The Union Club. Zeppo has been around for a couple years now and they just keep on getting better.  Missoula has a shortage of good bluesy rock bands and these guys deliver on a regular basis.  Chuck, the frontman for the band, has been playing shows since when you were still in diapers.

Saturday

The She He He’s, The Knockoffs and Jacktop Town @ The Biker Doctor. I know what your thinking “a punk rock show at the Bike Doctor?” Well, there is one and it’s got two of Missoula’s best punk outfits out there.  Jacktop Town is becoming one of the must-see acts in the Garden City.  If you haven’t seen these guys I highly recommend it. Click here for Jacktop Town’s Myspace page.

Kris Moon and DJ Naj @ The Badlander. Kris Moon is one of Seattle’s hottest DJs at the moment.  He’s opened up for world class techno artists like Octave One and Richie Hawtin.  If techno is your thing then this is your chance to see one of the best in the biz.  Click here for Kris Moon’s Myspace page

Hot Salsa Nights @ The Elks Lodge. Well, if punk rock and techno aren’t your thing then maybe the Elk’s has what you are looking for.  7 7 7 will be playing salsa music from 9pm till 2am.  Dancing lessons will be available for those who need them.

Sunday

Del the Funky Homosapien @ The Other Side. I’ve been listening to Del since high school.  I think it was 1993 when I first heard the insane raps of Del.  The song Pissing on your Steps might be one of the best rap songs of all time.  This is the second time that Del has passed through Missoula.  So if you are a fan of hip hop this is the show you’ve been waiting for.  Click here for Del’s Myspace Page
