NewWest.Net Announces the 2nd Annual Planning in the West Conference

Join the conversation about innovation and excellence in guiding the development of the New West.

Here at NewWest, we’re gearing up for great conference, Planning in the West, and this year’s 2nd annual event will be a platform for insightful conversation and valuable tools for shaping the future of the region.

The conference will kick off on Thursday, June 3rd with three pre-conference tours focused on bringing more hands on, face-to-face experience and discussion to the topics of planning in the West. The day will conclude with a conference opening reception and social.

Friday, June 4th will be a full-day program at the spectacular Stueckle Sky Center at Boise State University with a mix of presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities. Highlights of the day include:

  • Analysis of planning in our region, what is “livability” and new economic opportunities in the Intermountain West.
  • Discussion of creative approaches to planning for a changing climate and innovative methods to transportation infrastructure.
  • Presentations on innovative land designs, community development projects and architecture from regional and national leading practitioners.

  • Keynote Mark Muro, Fellow and Policy Director for the Metropolitan Policy Program at the Brookings Institution will discuss region’s challenges and opportunities and how leaders need a new, more supportive, responsive, and empowering relationship with the federal government if they are going renew the area’s prosperity.

    The premiere annual event in the region, Planning in the West features a rich mix of presentations, discussions and networking opportunities, all designed to advance our understanding of the forces shaping our region and provide practical advice on how to navigate the next decade. The conference attracts a rich mix of more than 200 planners, developers, architects, real estate agents, financiers, attorneys, policy-makers, journalists, non-profit leaders and many others.

    NewWest.Net is proud to host the 2nd annual Planning in the West conference, produced in partnership with the Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho and Boise State University’s Community and Regional Planning Program.

    Continuing Education credits are available for AIA architects and APA planners.
