By Jonathan Weber , 2-12-09
NewWest.Net is delighted to announce an outstanding speaker line-up for Designing the New West, Architecture and Landscape in the Mountain West, to be held April 16-17 at the Gallatin Gateway Inn near Bozeman. This unique two-day event, produced in cooperation with the Sonoran Institute, brings together leading architects, developers, planners, policy-makers and many others for in-depth conversation about design trends in the region, with a special focus on understanding how place-inspired design can help us shape the Mountain West in the most positive possible ways.
This year’s highlights include:
• Dr. Arthur C. Nelson, FAICP, Director of Metropolitan Research from the University of Utah, who will share a new perspective on mega-trends of the Northern Rockies and what can position us for a prosperous future.
• Presentations from Roger Lang, owner of the Sun Ranch and founder of the Sun Ranch Institute, and Kat Vlahos of the University of Colorado on new approaches to ranchland conservation and development.
• A showcase of innovative land design and architecture projects from Robert Hull of Miller/Hull, Alan Mashkin of Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects, and Boulder architect Michael Tavel.
• Three in-depth design charettes led by top architects that will include site visits and hands-on information and applied drafting.
• Lively networking with some of the top design and development professionals from around the region.
