Obama to be in Billings Wednesday

Senator Barack Obama will visit Billings, Montana next Wednesday en route to Denver for the Democratic National Convention, the Montana Democratic Party announced today.

It will be the presidential hopeful’s fifth visit to Montana—a state with three electoral votes Obama is battling hard to win. The few polls conducted here indicate a slight advantage for Obama. (Bush won in 2004 with 59 percent of the vote.)

No details of Obama’s visit have been made available. We’ll keep you posted.

The Dallas Morning News has a list of Obama’s other pre-DNC stops:

Sunday: Eau Claire, Wisconsin. College town in a state he carried in the primary

Monday: Iowa’s Quad Cities area. Iowa - where it all started with an upset win in the caucuses.

Tuesday: Kansas City, Mo. - Classic swing state.

Wednesday: Billings, Montana - A chance to showcase his push for western states and, more broadly, turf that Democrats used to write off.

McCain is taking today off. McCain usually does at the most on Town Hall Meeting a day. McCain usually does not campaign on weekends.

Obama often does three cities a day when visiting a state. He also usually stops at a local small town eating establishment, not a chain.

Maybe we should encourage McCain to buy his 15th house in Montana so he'll have a chance to visit at least once a year.

I hope Rose Mary doesn't live in Billings. She threatened to sit outside her house with a "sawed-off shotgun" to protect herself if Obama showed up.
