Apparently as long as it sells books, lipstick and media interest, Ms. Palin is not going away anytime soon. As soon as I start to think I like her, she opens her mouth and the GOP machine flinches and the wingnuts come outta the woodwork. The abortion survivors never quit whining about Palin. Who you really need to think about is all those people who do sit in the cold, in line, for a chance to get a book with her signature in it. They will vote. They have hope. They haven't seen any change. Hard to be out of work, in the cold, while having global warming shoved up your nose by the talking heads all day. Hard to play cards and win when you show your cards to all at the table. Hard to go forward when your job, your training, was outsourced to a third world country for pennies on the dollar. Hard to understand that recovery is based on your buying something made in some third world country but you no longer can make a living or afford to buy even food. If Sarah Palin speaks to those people, and she has their following, smarty pants journalism is the low road to future employment perdition and will be well deserved for it served neither side of the political center. Smarty pants journalism is about the writer and not the facts. The fact is that Palin is having a dynamite book tour, and has been more than well received, quite to the liking of her publisher and her bank account. Stupid girl, that Sarah Palin.

Another hastily written column by Friedrichs. Obviously he hadn't had enough booze or was anxiously awaiting the opening of a booze outlet. It was elementary and hackneyed at best, but that's what we've come to expect from Mr. Friedrichs, who's prose style is probably similar that of Mrs. Palin. What a buffoon!

In all fairness Buddah, Joe has written some fairly hard hitting articles that obviously took a lot of time and research followed up by some first class writing. When you have time perhaps you should put down your George Bush autographed copy of MY PET GOAT and read some of them. While no one is hailing this diddy as journalistic excellence, and although I could have written a much better story, it might be prudent to heed the statement of Ms. Kuraitis. These people are doing an excellent job. If you think you can do better, why don't you try writing sans the expletives. Obviously you're covering up for your lack of grammatical skills.

Brendan: To demean intellect and education, you must first learn to be PROFICIENT in the English written language. "Your" is the possessive of "you." You would be well served to know that the contraction of "you are" is "you're." And you have used it incorrectly twice. Perhaps you should join the book buying supplicants at the altar of fifth grade English written language studies.

Palin most likely had ghost writers, editors, and evidently has produced a book not liked by the pointy heads of the judging class, which has done wonders for her book's sales numbers.

My hunting buddy called the other night. He has read her book. He bought it at the Christian book store near him. Apparently it is popular at the Christian book stores as well as the secular stores. I have no information on whether it has been translated to Arabic and is now being read by America's muslims. You can be damned sure it has been translated in China, and is the stuff of committee studies in some arcane branch of the Chinese government.

Palin is a cultural force as well as a political force, in ways similar to to Obama's cultural and political impact. Beating up on her is not going to make the Larry Craig and Max Baucus stories go away. And beating up on Palin is old news. That you find her not to your liking due to perceived deficiencies NOT of character, but of her education, breadth of reading, is sort of disingenuous because she does have a record of being a politician and elected leader with administrative duties and a record. Obama did not. Those areas are where the criticism of her should be aimed. Or, if you can find some dirt on her, some inkling she had a lesbian lover on staff she promoted unfairly, or a motel record and security camera that shows she has lovers outside of home, that is fair game. The fifth grade references ended up with that gun pointed at you, and all the other cheap shots are not really funny. Those have been repeated until they are some sort of leftist mantra. Better you stand in the cold and chant "Hell no, we won't go" until you turn blue. That might get noticed.

Every writer needs an editor. Even Joseph. Sideboards. A compass. Limits. And every editor has to know when not to alter style, POV. None of which should limit criticism of the author. Especially in terms of political slant and facts.

Everyone should subscribe to their local weekly county paper because that is where journalists begin their educations. We need those papers to survive. They are sort of like little journalism wilderness areas: unique and diverse. I don't have a nickel in any of them. Just an old age appreciation for what they are. Mostly local, many not chain owned.

I still miss the brothers who ran the Elko Daily Free Press, and their Friday column "Barbed Wire." That was just another of the thousands of papers that have withered on the vine of chain ownership and one size fits all journalism. To this day I remember a "Barbed Wire" column in which the question was asked of how the honor and ethical background of the Nevada prison inmate population had deteriorated to a point where a convicted baby raper could live to have his first parole hearing, which was due to be held in a few days. Newspapers have changed, even in the electronic press. Never since have I read an editorial that equated societal change and the tolerance for violence against children with the quality of inmates in the prison system. I would dearly like to know what they would write about a Sarah Palin.

South of here, a grandmother tells of multiple calls to the Child Welfare Agency of Oregon to advise them of known signs of child abuse of a grand daughter. She used the anonymous line due to not wanting to preclude herself from ever seeing her grandkid again, and not wanter her daughter to know it was her who called authorities. She will the kid at least once more. The parents finally killed the kid by torture. It (dead kids at adult hands) never ends. Just never ends. We can't protect children as a society. But we can kick the shit out of Sarah Palin with authority and glee. Priorities. Get a life other than trapped in a gin bottle, Juniper Berry.

I do not know if this is the right place for me to chat so here goes, you let me know if I am in the wrong section. I have never done this before. I was the 2nd person in line for Sarah Palin. I started at noon the prior day. I weathered the temp of 14 degree's and was proud to do so. I was impressed with the group of people I was able to meet and agree on alot of things about Sarah Palin. When I met Sarah Palin she was kind and asked me my name, shook my hand and then replied "You look like you came from Alaska", I replied "I feel like it too". this was said because I was still all bundled up. To think I am now a proud 62 yr old that made it throught the night. We need her in America to help bring things back in order. I like her because she is down to earth, not a pretend person to know something. She means what she says, does it when she say's she wil do something, and does not have to read a teleprompter to talk. By Golly she has a brain that is a gift and courage to concour. I am for her and alot of you wonderers out there just wish you had the guts, to speak your piece as she can, and still have people like me, that I say are alot of, on the 9th and 10th to confirm my belief. Sarah Palin did wonders in Alaska. One reporter asked me what I thought of Sarah Palin quitting being Govenor of Alaska, well, I personally feel her mission was already accomplished there. I know being a woman myself that, we women, have a gift inside us to help notice things. Maybe that is being a mother that helps us to be ahead of things in the household, you know raising children and all. So, she must have a deep down thought that is guiding her to more powerful avenues to HELP AMERICA, as that is her job, to help We the People, to help correct things in the USA. So, her mission is in a better direction. She is really not a quitter, you know that as she did accomplish good things for Alaska. Now when I was in the Banking business, I was told, you go by your first instint, if you feel uneasy with a patron, then use your thoughts incase of a robbery or whatever it is. Well, I have the best thoughts of Sarah Palin to help our Country out in 2010 then if she chooses, to do fabulous things in 2012. We need her strength and knowledge that has been blessed with. I say do not be afraid. She will not have Big Government, Big Spending, Would not run us into the ground the way things are going now. Borrowing more from China, giving bonus's out over and over again that the People of the United States of America - the offspring will have to pay back, forever. I say the ones that are reaping the overflow now, just pay it back, know that you will not live the life you want because the inside of you knows you are doing wrong. When you cheat, you do not really prosper. You - meaning the other high and mighties out there, will feel being up on top one minute, then, I can say Poof you are back down in the pits just like that. Sarah Palin will do wonders as she is good, clean, honest and a warm loving mother that lives with the normal things in life a family have to deal with. Her husband Todd is dearing, a challenger in his own ways, of his work skills, survival skills, being with his family. What they really have is what so many others would dream they would have, the love for one another. I can not say anything bad of them. One might talk of English writting in a book, well, I may not have the best in my English, but in my years of working, I have never had a problem getting my point across to anyone, or achieving my goal in whatever my job was either. I would prefer if a person were to have a problem in English far more better than the person running for an office to be a crook, cheater, crooked in there job, cheating the government, being unfaithful, untrustworthy, a lier, one that can not speak there own words, If you have to read a monator all the time, what is in your own head. This is my thought, when one turns there head back and forth and back in forth reading to try to say they are giving a speech, that is just false. That person is reading something someone else's brain had and put together out there to say. Oh my goodness if the teleprompter goes out - Haa Haa then the truth comes out. I really liked meeting Sarah Palin, Todd Palin, both parents anf Aunts. They were all gracious and warm hearted. Thank You to them.

Oh two othe thoughts, I personally thanked the Owner of Fred Meyers, to say that the warmth they provided with the heaters out side for so many of us, that was a very kind thing to do, the two Honey Buckets were convenient, then the Coffee Stand by Fred Meyers, Dale and his wife kept it open all night long buzzing around taking orders to help keep all of us warm on the inside too. I just wanted to thank them all for being so kind. There is a man named Tom that right off the bat brought a propane heater to keep us warm by his truck then just to the side of us when we were inline too. We want to really thank him too.

If the man that had a green jacket on that was getting a signature from Sarah Palin for the lady named Maryann that was the first person in line for a friend that was ill. Please e-mail me where you can be reached to get the book to the proper person. We lost you in the croud. This makes it hard to locate someone when after awhile everyone looks the same when you think of the hours we all spent together in the freezing cold. Hope to hear from you. sz
