Saturday: Crapo Delivers National Address on Health Bill
Sen. Crapo's address opposing the health care reform bill is also available on YouTube.By Jill Kuraitis, 11-21-09
Saturday, Idaho Senator Mike Crapo delivered a national address on the health care legislation expected to be considered by the U.S. Senate Saturday evening. Crapo was chosen by Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell to offer the Republican response to the President’s weekly radio address.
A vote in the Senate on whether or not to allow debate on the bill is expected Saturday night.
Here is the transcript of Senator Crapo’s address to the nation:
“Americans are calling on Congress for health care reform because they can no longer tolerate its skyrocketing cost,” Crapo said. “They want us to stop the punishing increases in insurance premiums and health care costs that, year after year, are driving families across this nation to the edge. And, they want us to ensure that they have meaningful access to quality health care. But, when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid finally revealed the 2,074-page bill that has been crafted for weeks now behind closed doors, that’s hardly what we got.
“This two-thousand page bill will:
Drive up the cost of health care insurance and medical care, not down;
Increase taxes by hundreds of billions of dollars;
Cut Medicare for senior citizens by hundreds of billions of dollars;
Grow the federal government by over $2.4 trillion in new spending;
Push the needy uninsured into a failing Medicaid system;
Impose a damaging unfunded mandate on our struggling states;
Leave millions of Americans uninsured; and
Establish a massive governmental intrusion into management of our health care economy.
“This is not true health care reform, and it is not what the American people want. This bill will result in higher premiums and higher health care costs for Americans - period.
“At a time when we are experiencing record double-digit unemployment, the Reid bill raises taxes by nearly half a trillion dollars. A significant number of these provisions violate President Obama’s promise to the American people, namely that lower- and middle-class Americans would not see a tax increase under his proposals. And, yet, this bill clearly breaks that promise as it taxes a wide range of Americans: the uninsured and the insured; families with so-called high value insurance plans; employers who create jobs or provide retiree drug coverage; individuals who need medicines or medical devices; and many others. It also levies fines and penalties on individuals, families and businesses.
“Medicare faces cuts of nearly $500 billion to create the new government entitlement, even though Medicare is already facing enormous unfunded liabilities and looming insolvency. These cuts will reduce access to and the quality of care our seniors receive from a number of Medicare providers, including hospitals, nursing homes, home health and hospice services. And, as they see their access to and quality of care reduced, seniors enrolled in the popular Medicare Advantage plans will also lose many of the benefits that they enjoy today.
“We are already experiencing record deficits and debt, and yet, this bill creates a massive expansion of government, growing the size of the federal government by over $2.4 trillion over ten full years of implementation. When you take away the budget gimmicks used in the early years of the implementation that make the total cost look smaller, the truth is glaring and the Congressional Budget Office agrees: this plan will increase federal spending and health costs, not lower them. That means both you and the federal government will see costs go up.
“The legislation pushes 15 million people into the failing Medicaid system rather than giving them access to health insurance. And, in addition to forcing the neediest of the uninsured into a failing entitlement program, this expansion will result in $25 billion in unfunded Medicaid mandates on the states, which are already struggling financially. This mandate further jeopardizes state budgets as it forces them to drive up spending.
“The bill creates a government option insurance company and establishes unprecedented expansion of governmental control over health care. It establishes the government as the determiner of what kind of insurance Americans can purchase. It also imposes new federal mandates on all Americans. The first mandate would apply to the individual: buy insurance or the IRS will collect a fine from you. Then, on employers: face a penalty if you don’t provide a government-approved health plan. The bill imposes $28 billion in new taxes on employers who don’t comply. Those new taxes would be passed along to employees in the form of reduced wages and lost jobs.
“You’re going to hear a lot about this bill. That’s why I encourage you to read the bill yourself and form your own opinion. The bill is available on my website as well as a number of other Internet sites. Take a close look at how the bill is funded and who and what it covers and doesn’t cover and how it may impact you and your family. It’s a real eye-opener!
“In recent months, I’ve heard from many Idahoans in my home state about health care, and they echo what Americans want in health care reform--lower costs and better quality. What Americans really want is the kind of step-by-step reforms that Republicans have been advocating for years — common-sense ideas like the ability to purchase insurance across state lines, allowing small businesses to pool together to offer more affordable health insurance to their employees; changing the incentives in our system from numbers of procedures to quality of outcomes; eliminating pre-existing condition limitations, equalizing the tax treatment of insurance; eliminating waste, fraud and abuse and promoting wellness and prevention programs that encourage people to make healthy choices. These are the kinds of reform that make sense and would really make a difference for all Americans. Thank you for listening.”

Fool.
They've worked themselves into a minority fair and square; now what's left is to see whether they can work themselves to irrelevance as well.
I wish they could figure out how to do more than stand united to say "no." That's not accomplishing anything useful.
Medicare for all!!!
The best idea I've heard in a long time is to mandate that whatever they come up with, Congress will also be subject to the same level of coverage.
President Obama’s health care plan, passed by House Democrats, would require everyone to buy health insurance or pay a fine for failing to do so. According to the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation, punishment for failing to keep “acceptable health insurance coverage” would include a fine of up to 2.5 percent of your income, and refusal to pay the penalty “is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment for up to five years.”
The House Democrat bill describes the penalties as follows:
* Section § 7203 — Misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.
* Section § 7201 — Felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.”
Auto Insurance is a bad example, an uninsured motorist can get in a wreck, doing damage to another. How is this responsibility to protect another by insuring my body the same.. It is not.
I should pay for your broken leg, or flu vaccine, I should pay for your cancer treatment even though you failed in your life to avoid getting cancer..
Better add the cost of more prisons to this bill.. The Dems are going to need them.
Debtors prisons in America, to funny.
You know Mick, you remind me of a guy with a cheating wife, she gets caught all the time cheating but he takes her back, Well I lied that time honey, but I told you the truth on this one..
This health care package is coming from the same place global warming did...
Dude, their lying to you..

A Documentary Film by Stephen Kroschel Awarded Honorable Mention in the Feature-Length Documentary Category 2006 New York International Independent Film and Video Festival Filmmaker, Stephen Kroschel, sets out to find hard evidence of the effectiveness of the Gerson Therapy, a long-suppressed natual cancer treatment. His travels take him across both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, from upstate New York to San Diego to Alaska, from Japan to Holland and Mexico. In the end, he presents the testimony of patients, scientists, surgeons and nutritionists, who testify to the effectiveness of the Gerson Therapy and shows the hard scientific evidence to back up their claims. The question that remains is, "Why is this powerful curative therapy still suppressed, more than 75 years after it was clearly proven to cure degenerative disease?"

On July 26, 2000, the Journal of the American Medical Association published a landmark paper by Barbara Starfield (Johns Hopkins School of Public Health), “Is US health really the best in the world?” In it, Starfield revealed what many people inside the medical establishment already knew: every year, like clockwork, the medical system was killing huge numbers of people. This wasn’t a dream. It was too real. By all rights (but who cares about rights?) the game was up. The liars and the PR flacks and the public health agencies were going down. The drug companies were going to take a lethal blow. Hospitals all over America were going to have to confess their many sins. Of course, that never happened.
Each year in the US there are:
12,000 deaths from unnecessary surgeries;
7,000 deaths from medication errors in hospitals;
20,000 deaths from other errors in hospitals;
80,000 deaths from infections acquired in hospitals;
106,000 deaths from FDA-approved correctly prescribed medicines.
The total of medically-caused deaths in the US every year is 225,000.
This makes the medical system the third leading cause of death in America, behind heart disease and cancer.
In the wake of Starfield’s devastating report, other facts came to light: 2.1 million people in America, every year, are hospitalized as a result of reactions to FDA-approved medicines. Annually, 36 million serious adverse reactions to those drugs occur.
So, inclusive health coverage for many more Americans under the Obama Plan—with business as usual—means these horrendous figures will rise.
This is the dirty secret. This is what the political Left in this country, those avid defenders of “medical science,” must pretend isn’t there at all. And the Republicans are in the same position.

AL GORE'S MENTOR IN ALL OF THIS IS MAURICE STRONG - THE ORIGINAL GAIA PROMOTER well guess who else he mentors, Bill and Hillary Clinton.. Maurice Strong has been the gray imminence behind the United Nations Secretary General for years. He has also been an adviser of Bill and Hillary Clinton. Maurice Strong is an enemy of our way of life. He is the one behind Agenda 21 and the race to eliminate humans from most of the wild lands. He is the one behind Al Gore and Gore's books. He is the NIMBY extraordinaire.. Wake up, Health care is a great idea for sure, But not from these clowns Mick...
Democracy and Socialism are Not Freedom, the concepts of freedom and democracy conflict so regularly that Plato pronounced, "Democracy leads to anarchy, which is mob rule." Freedom is the ability to decide and act for one’s self. Democracy requires all people to conform their action to the rule of the majority. That is communism.
The answer is yes absolutely, Health Care Reform is part of Agenda 21 Sustainable Development. Health care reform is not about enhancing personal health, it's about implementing new systems, profits and liaisons in the name of health care.
The language in Agenda 21 is always obtuse. In Chapter 6 "Protecting and Promoting Human Health" it says,
Action items under Agenda 21 must address the primary health needs of the world's population, since they are integral to the achievement of the goals of sustainable development and primary environmental care.
It further states,
Countries ought to develop plans for priority actions, drawing on the programs in this chapter, which are based on cooperative planning by the various levels of government, non-governmental organizations and local communities.
Chapter 6 goes on to say,
Particular attention should be directed towards food safety, with priority placed on the elimination of food contamination; comprehensive and sustainable water policies...promotion of health education, immunization and provision of essential drugs. Education and appropriate services regarding responsible planning of family size...
In a more specific sense Agenda 21 calls for the shift in economic basics from free enterprise to “public private partnership.” This is exactly what has been occurring in medicine and is proposed to be formalized by Obama care.
As for the system of justice, Agenda 21 calls for social justice to replace equal justice. Social justice allocates the application of justice to groups as opposed to individuals.
One must also connect the family planning policies of Health Care Reform to Agenda 21's sister document, the Global Biodiversity Assessment which directs an 85% reduction in world population if we stay in an industrialized state.
Global Warming and Health care are traced back to Maurice Strong, and UNICEP...
Believe them if you so choose, their credibility sucks though in my opinion...
Now do some carrot juice and clear out your mind.. Toss in some garlic for flu prevention.. Free health care advice !!
Promises Beyond Reality: The Federal Government admits to over $12 Trillion dollars in debt. In reality, its obligations are multiples of that figure. The unfunded promises from Social Security and Medicare total around $100 trillion. That is, to properly fund the forecasted future deficits in Social Security and Medicare, $100 trillion would have to be put in the fund today. This liability is growing at the rate of about $5 trillion per year! The Government has promised benefits that they cannot honor. These programs are Ponzi schemes that make Bernie Madoff look like Mother Teresa. As evidence, the total net worth of the country (the country’s total assets less liabilities) is slightly above $50 trillion. If the Government confiscated everything, the programs would still be $50 trillion short and the Government would still be bankrupt. Furthermore, no company or individual would be left with anything.
Send in an Additional $1,525,000 With Your Tax Return : To further put the problem into perspective, the Federal Government owes about $112 TRILLION in actual debt and social promises. Assuming a total population of 315 million people, the portion of Federal Government debt that is owed by every man, woman and child in this country is about $381,000! Or, a family of four owes $1,525,000 of which they are unaware.
Cap and trade, health care, and anything else the government can invent is to make their debt payments, it is not going to happen, their broke, their printing fiat currency backed by air, the World Bankers want to be paid, when a home owner fails on the mortgage foreclosure happens, Nations are no different... You are watching foreclosure..
Debt Death Spiral: The Federal Government is in what is known as a Debt Death Spiral. They are unable to pay the actual and implied interest on their debt. Hence, the unpaid balance is added back to the amount owed, making the problem worse next year. This debt spiral is growing exponentially. There is no way to escape a certain mathematical end — BANKRUPTCY.
Ain't it amazing how a group of financially inept federal thugs can still keep the peoples attention with promises of ice cream and cotton candy...
Enjoy your health care...
Carrots and garlic, carrots and garlic...Real health care..
Holidays.. stressful enough without stuff going wrong at every turn, right? So check this out- on the 23rd I had my car all jam-packed up to go to my sister's house for dinner and partying. My vehicle was parked on the side of the street in front of my house. I ran back in the house to snatch the mashed potatoes I made for the party. I kid you not, in the time it took me to get them and lock up my front gate a branch snapped off the tree in the front yard and broke my windshield. Talk about awful timing, huh?
Luckily I remembered this piece on windshield repair I saw on the net a few weeks before that pointed me towards a mobile windshield repair place. They hooked me up! They drove out the same day to my friend's house and fixed my windshield while we partied, it was great. I was so stoked that I just wanted to give them a shout out.
Peace!
