REPORTS: Those of you who are suffering the symptoms of cabin feaver, take heart, things are starting to happen! The 'root has been giving up some pretty good and consistant fishing the past week or two. The skwala nymphs are moving in a big way and size 10 brown or black stonefly nymphs have been very productive. Slow moving streamers are a good option too. There has also been some red hot dryfly action on midges or smaller whatevers (we've been using 18 and 20 parachute Adams) on some afternoons, but the topwater stuff's been much more hit and miss. When you do run into the risers, though, they've pretty much been morons willing to believe in everything you throw at 'em. The most gullible of these pea brained critters will usually be in pods of around 1300 or so.
HATCHES: midges.
FLIES: Midges ranging from palaminos to Griffith's gnats and tiny parachute Adams. Flashy and tiny brassie type stuff in green and red. The worm.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Adult skwalas are just around the corner, better get 'em tied! The fish are in very good conditon up here and fighting well.
Blackfoot

REPORTS: Some good stuff on the upper end near Ovando these days although it's exclusively a nymph deal at this point. We've been having luck with bigger squirrel tails and red San Juan droppers. Nice to be up here if for no other reason than to have it to yourself for a change.
HATCHES: midges.
FLIES: Worms, squirrel tails
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Check out all the newly listed specials on the online store.
REPORTS: Hmmm, depends where you go right now, really. Mostly it's been a red San Juan worm deal with widely scatterd fish working the surface. Unlike the 'root, the "rising" fish on the Clark Fork have been much more focused on just below the surface fare. Slowly moving soft hackles or CDC emerger patterns will be your best bet for topwater stuff. We've been floating some on the lower sections in our 162' rafts. No, but seriously though, they're at least 100'.
HATCHES: midges.
FLIES: Dark bodied soft hackles and emerger stuff in 16s to 20. The worm.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Look for the daily updates to begin again March 15th.
Missouri

REPORTS: Still pretty good fishing over here these days. You can always catch fattie or 10 using the standard pink Mo fare like scuds or Ray Charles. Look for sporadic dryfly midging heat of the day sometimes lasting into evening. Keep your tandem rigs deep and SLOW and be ready to set on the faintest indicator motion.
HATCHES: midges.
FLIES: Griffith's gnats, size 16 and 18 pink and gray scuds, small brassies and copper Bobs, tiny flashback p-tails, red San Juans, pink or salmon colored egg patterns.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Check out the new for '06 line of Simms here
Rock Creek

REPORTS: Yep, they're taking the stonefly nymphs on the lower few miles on a regular basis these days. While we're not liable to have the adults flying around as early as we did the last 2 years, they're not far off. We are, of course, talking about the poisonous arboreal tree monkeys, the 3rd instar stage of which is recognized as a skwala.
HATCHES: midges.
FLIES: Any midsize nymphs. Egg and worm patterns.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The newest rods from both Sage and Winston are now in stock at The Kingfisher. The VT-2 from Sage is the latest evolution in the RPL/VPS series and is available exclusively in Missoula at The Kingfisher. The Vapor and Ascent are the two new additions to the Winston line and are priced considerably less than all the other rods from this company. Check 'em out on our online store www.kingfisherflyshop.com
