Wyoming's first gubernatorial debate can be heard at 7 p.m. tonight, courtesy of Wyoming Public Radio and Wyoming’s travel, hospitality, merchants, and liquor dealers associations. It will be the first debate of the campaign season between Republican Ray Hunkins and Democratic incumbent Governor Dave Freudenthal. If you are unable to tune in tonight, the debate will be available on the Wyoming Public Radio website by the end of the week.

Nicely echoing Todd Wilkinson's two-part series on former Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce Director Steve Duerr, Wyoming tourism officials have endorsed wildlife and natural resources as top priorities. According to a report submitted at the Cody gathering, Last year, tourism:

  • generated 30,000 full-time jobs,

  • provided $584 million in earnings, and

  • visitors spent $2.25 billion.

It has been more than a decade since my family had to be concerned with how hard it can be to find good, affordable daycare. We never had to do so within a boomtown environment, so you know it must be tough in communities that are dealing with energy growth and loooow unemployment.

We were lucky, in that our kids are good people, unscarred by anything bad happening in what turned out to be good daycare environments in several states. A relative who hadn't seen the other little boy for several years came by to pick him up, not knowing that that little boy had slipped out to play with his friends. This stranger picked up my son, took him home and they finally realized they had the wrong kid. Fortunately, nothing bad happened, but I was not happy.
